If you’d like to know how to get more Avon customers online, continue sharing the things you love and believe in outside of your business. This attracts like minded people to you for reasons other than Avon.
Compliment others on their fashion or makeup. Build people up and they’ll follow you. The best Avon representatives, were once Avon customers.

I became a AVON representative back in September 2017. My reason was that I wanted to fulfill something that was relative to what I left when becoming a new mom. I use to work in Manhattan around the Fabric District for a Knitwear line for 5 yrs. I was the Sales/Customer Rep. I have a BA of Science in Fashion Design so I was happy to be working in the most popular area known in NYC. Motherhood changed my world a lot, but I am happy being home raising my daughter, although I needed something to make me feel independent, relative to what I worked hard for going to college, and also bring some income to my growing family.
AVON fit what I was looking for because it’s not just cosmetics, it much more! Who inspired me to make that decision to be a representative was my Mother. She represented a hardworking, determined and beautiful spirit inside and out. I am the second child of 6 kids and my mom came to America from Haiti to make a better life for us. She did whatever it took to put food on the table and didn’t let a man interfere in her raising us. I am currently living on Camp Pendleton base in San Onofre, CA and also the only person around San Clemente that is a AVON representative. I’m from NC, but spent some time in my younger years in Tampa, Fl. I come from a single parent home (I’m the oldest of four) where my mother was a no non-sense parent. I am thankful for my upbringing, because it has 100% made me into the person I am today. I went to Winston-Salem State University and 16 months after graduating, I relocated to Charlotte, NC in 2004. It was one of the bravest moves I’ve ever made because I didn’t know a soul in the area. I packed up my car, found an apartment (with no job, no furniture, nothing) and started my new life in Charlotte. I was blessed enough to find a job upon two weeks of being here.
I met my husband in 2005, dated him for five years before saying “I do.” In between the “I Do”, I birthed my daughter (who is now 10) and later in 2011 gave birth to identical twin boys.
I live a busy life and I wouldn’t have it any other way! I work outside of the home full-time in Recruiting and Training and naturally devote the rest of my time to my family as well as indulging in one of my favorite hobbies- shopping for gifts and scouring for the next best deal!
I decided to take this leap of faith with AVON after my best friend suggested giving it a try (I’ve use the products before, so I knew they were “of quality” and I can stand by them). I love to travel and with three very active kids, the extra income can hopefully help me to show them the world AND continue to set them up with a financially secure future. Avon is one of the leading direct sales beauty companies in the world. Not only are there a wide variety of cosmetic products to choose from, but also wellness products, home decoration items, accessories, and jewelry. It is great to be able to offer a wide range of products, but being an Avon sales representative can be as easy or productive as you make it. How can an average Avon brand ambassador stand apart from the others? Do you have what it takes to become a successful Avon sales representative?
This article explores what it takes to stand out from millions of Avon representatives.
Avon continues to be an all-time company of choice for women when it comes to generating excellent leaders and creating incredible wealth. This is an outstanding achievement for the cosmetic giant, however just like most business opportunities nowadays, it is hard for representatives to market efficiently due to the lack of proper training, coaching, and confidence. If you are struggling as an Avon ambassador, then read on!
Following are some obstacles that lead to failure. They should be avoided.
- Your warm list (the people who know you and trust you) is too small.
- Using yellow pages to cold call people.
- Trying to convince someone to join your business who clearly has a different mindset.
- Using multiple strategies and distracting yourself because you have not mastered even one of them.

In order to educate yourself, it is recommended that you learn from those who are in the top 5% in this industry and utilize the tools that Avon provides. Think as the successful Avon representatives do and you will be successful. Network, lead, and learn on a regular basis and of course, eliminate the above mentioned obstacles and become an attractive marketer rather than a money-hungry sales representative.
Following are some ideas that will have prospects calling you off the hook in order to do business with you:
- Take advantage of the Internet and get your business online.
- Don’t brand your business opportunity, brand yourself.
- Focus on those who have faith in the network marketing business model but are struggling and need help.
- Don’t try to master all the marketing strategies at once. Master one and generate at least ten leads consistently from that strategy. Then master another strategy and so on.
- Don’t wait for a lead to call you; pick up the phone and have a relationship building, fact finding conversation with them.
- Lead with value – people will come to like and trust you.

Check out some tips to recruit new Avon reps quickly.
1.) If a client has an order that is more than $25, and contains at least one of the items that ship in the initial business kit, offer the opportunity to become an Avon Representative. Using Avon for personal use is how many of us started in leadership.
2.) If she’s buying Skin So Soft Oil. The Avon Quick Start kit actually comes with a full size Skin So Soft body and bath oil and sometimes that product sells for $19.99. I’d be hard pressed to think she wouldn’t spend $25 for her business kit that comes with even more. Plus, she’ll not only receive her order but let’s throw in lipstick samples, Anew samples, eyeliner, and more. The Avon Starter Kits are valued at $300+ in product alone. We know it’s a great deal, it’s just up to us to explain it well. Once she makes her first personal purchase and sees the savings, the leadership inspiration bug is planted.
3.) If she loves Anew but cannot afford it, this is a great opportunity to offer business details. Offer the $25 Avon Starter kit and explain to her that one of the Avon representative benefits is being able to always shop from the last 3 campaign sales. It doesn’t hurt that the Avon Starter kit also comes with Anew samples! She’ll never pay above what she can afford for her Anew regimen again.
4.) If she loves makeup and skincare but isn’t currently employed. A client that knows the struggle of healthy skincare and beauty on a budget, is a perfect candidate for leadership. Once this client sees how much she’ll be saving on her personal use products from Avon, you’ve become a part of an inspiring story if you mentor her into leadership. And if not, you’ve given her a backdoor portal into quality beauty products at a fraction of the cost.
5.) Run an ad on Adwords in your local area. Avon USA dominates the Google search engines when someone is looking to sell Avon. By running a personal ad for your business using your city name, locals are much more likely to click on your ad instead of Avon USA. I ran an ad and grew my team by 3 recruits in one week for less than $20 in ad costs. Avon does have some rules about running ads but they’re very easy to follow. 6.) If she asks you how much you make, she’s interested in the opportunity. Look for those key words and special interaction with customers when you’re dropping off brochures to small businesses. It is estimated that more than 50% of Americans will be working from home within the coming years. This opportunity is a wonderful way for anyone looking for a part time job to get their feet wet in sales, marketing, and editing a website. Explain how Avon U walks new Avon reps through the training process and how she can also become an Avon certified skin consultant.
7.) If you have a friend who is an MUA or a beauty enthusiast, ask her to join so that she can purchase samples for her business. Avon skincare and lipstick samples are very inexpensive. The value in having samples is important for clients who are hesitant about buying new lip colors and shades. Samples are extra important for those with sensitive skin who need an Avon “tester” before going all in.
8.) Plus size women looking for staple fashions at a reasonable price. Avon has such a wide array of representatives and clients, young and older, bigger and smaller. Flipping through the Avon brochures, you can see how many of the latest trending fashions come in plus sizes. Don’t forget the lingerie section as well for undergarments. These items are tough for some plus size women to find. Show her how having the power to order from her back office will save her so much money and time shopping for her fashions. Once she joins, direct her to this Avon Facebook group. With almost 2K members, ladies enjoy posting their Avon Looks of the Day.
What no one ever tells you is that in order to be successful, you must create your own rules. If that means not following others, then let’s rebel together. Starting any direct sales business requires leadership and creativity. There are hundreds of thousands of sellers doing the same thing you are…it’s essential for you to stand out and sometimes that means breaking the “nice” rules.
24 BAD GIRL RULES OF PURSUING YOUR PASSION (insert Avon where applicable)
I developed this list from personal experience over the course of 6 months and after a ridiculously crazy relationship.
- When you have a business, you get a lot of calls. Use phone sales people to learn more, then hang up.
- Find one thing you love and annoy someone talking about it.
- Embrace being weird. Most millionaires are weird.
- If by now, you haven’t stayed up half the night researching that thing you love, you should probably switch gears.
- Change your social media habits. Like “Pages” that will immerse you in your passion. Opening up your FB feed will become research.
- Do NOT talk to people who don’t share your passions about your passions. Absolutely draining.

- Pull at least 1 all-nighter per week working on your craft.
- Don’t focus on money. Build a team and the money will come.
- Can you take a class on that thing you love? If so, do it. If not, You Tube.
- Don’t be afraid of your competition. You can do it 10x’s better.
- Volunteer. Somewhere. Anywhere.
- Don’t start a new romantic relationship, unless it’s with your dreams or in your dreams.
- No support from your spouse, bf, or gf? That relationship is a myth. Close that chapter, it’s doomed.
- Kids want more of your time? Find ways to work together. You – business. Them – homework. Then take a dance break.
- Designate time to relax and clear your mind, take up drinking once a week.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for donations if your mission is a charitable one. People need to donate more than just at Christmas & Thanksgiving and they kinda know it.
- Subscribe to a magazine you love. Reading about millionaires makes you mad and inspired all at once.
- When dealing with takers, you run that show. Keep it that way and they may be of great service.
- Always say “Thank You”, twice.
- Have a designated work space…or use the library. (It’s so peaceful there.)
- Get a doctor’s check up once a year. It’s annoying but worth it.
- Listen more and talk less, with those who talk too much.
